This policy explains what the Cook With Kenyon app (and cookwithkenyonapp.com) collects and how it is used. The app is a companion for Kenyon flameless electric grills and cooktops — recipes, product and manual information, a wireless-thermometer cook screen, and Kenna, an AI assistant you can ask questions of by text or voice. The app is provided by Kenyon International, Inc.
No account needed
You do not need an account to use the app. We do not collect your name, email, or address unless you choose to give them to us — for example when you sign in to My Orders or open a support request.
What the app collects, and why
- Questions you ask Kenna. Your question, the recent conversation, and the details the app needs to answer it (the Kenyon model you selected, the type of phone, and — if a cook is running — the food, the target temperature and the cook's progress) are sent to our servers and to our AI service providers to generate an answer. Questions are logged, without your name, so we can improve Kenna's answers.
- Voice — only when you use the microphone. If you ask by voice, the recording is sent to our server to be turned into text, then handled like a typed question. The recording is used only for that and is not kept. Kenna's spoken replies are produced from her reply text.
- Photos — only when you use Chef's Eye. If you take or choose a photo of your food for Chef's Eye, the image is sent to our server and may be analyzed by our AI service providers to describe the food so Kenna can plan the cook. We keep a short text description of what was recognized, not the photo.
- Wireless thermometer. If you turn on a Combustion Inc. wireless thermometer in the Cook tab, the app reads it over Bluetooth on your phone. Temperatures stay on your device, except the cook details described above when you ask Kenna something, and technical connection records (such as signal strength and the thermometer's radio identifiers) that we use to diagnose connection problems.
- Live cook on the Lock Screen. If you allow the live cook on your Lock Screen (iPhone) or as a notification (Android), the app registers a notification token with our server so the live cook can be updated or cleared when the cook ends. The token is used only for that.
- My Orders — only if you sign in. If you sign in to My Orders, you give the email address you used at checkout; we email you a one-time code and show that address's Kenyon orders and invoices. The email address is used only for sign-in and to look up your orders.
- Support requests. If you open a support request — in the app, on the support page, or by asking Kenna to open one — you provide contact details (such as your name, email address and phone number) and a description. When Kenna opens the request, it includes a copy of your conversation with Kenna so Kenyon's service team does not have to ask you again. This is used only so Kenyon can help you.
- Anonymous usage and crash data. A random identifier is stored on your device, along with basic events (such as which screens and buttons are used and which questions are asked), plus crash reports (the error, the app version and the type of phone), so we can fix problems and improve the app. This is not linked to your real-world identity.
- On your device. Your favorites, your selected Kenyon, your conversation and your preferences are stored on your device.
AI and other service providers
Kenna is an artificial-intelligence assistant. To answer you, your question and the related details listed above are shared with the AI service providers that run the models behind Kenna and Chef's Eye. They process that information only to produce the answer, and we use providers with zero-data-retention terms: they do not keep your questions or photos after answering. We also use service providers to deliver email (My Orders codes), and Kenyon's customer-service system to handle support requests. Before you first use Kenna or Chef's Eye, the app asks for your OK to this. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we do not do
- No advertising or behavioral tracking, and no advertising identifiers.
- No location collection.
- No access to your contacts.
- No sale of your personal information.
- No sharing or selling of your mobile number to any third party for marketing purposes.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data retention and your choices
Questions, usage and crash data are kept to operate and improve the app. You can decline the microphone, camera, photos, Bluetooth or notification permissions at any time in your device's settings (the related feature simply won't be available), turn off the live cook in the app's Settings, and clear the app's stored data through your device. To request deletion of information associated with your device, your email address or a support request, contact us using the details below.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado and other U.S. states with similar laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have collected about you, and receive a copy of it in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, its sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, and profiling. We do not sell or share personal information for these purposes.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We do not collect sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your request using information we already hold, respond within 45 days (or as required by law), and you may use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, residents of Virginia, Colorado and other states that provide it may appeal by replying to our decision; we will respond to the appeal within the time the law requires.
EU and UK residents (GDPR)
If the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we process personal information to provide the service you ask for (for example, answering a question or a support request), for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, to comply with legal obligations, and, where required, with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal information, and to data portability. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Effective” date above reflects the current version.
